About Flight 583
In September of 1969 one of the most tragic crashes in U.S. aviation history occurred. A single engine Piper Cherokee inadvertently flew into the tail section of a DC9 commercial airliner, Allegheny Flight 853, in the skies over Indiana. There were no survivors as eighty-four souls lost their lives that fateful day. Both planes fell into a soybean field from an altitude of 2,500 feet. There are scores of stories detailing the tragedy, however there are few that address the paranormal component of it. The soybean field is listed as one of the most haunted locations in Indiana. There were so many casualties that none of the local morgues could handle the influx of bodies. As a result, a temporary morgue was set up in an old warehouse in a town close to the crash site. This is the story of those restless souls that are believed to still inhabit that area.
